Your responsibilities
- Working with the existing GHG quota model, a policy-driven model reflecting the German greenhouse gas (GHG) quota system – a regulatory instrument to reduce emissions in the transport sector – and adapting it to the evolving RED III framework (strong Excel skills required, along with basic programming capabilities, e.g. VBA and Python)
- Identifying and integrating relevant data and statistics for analysing GHG quota compliance
- Creating automated data queries to collect and update inputs for the model
- Further developing and enhancing the GHG quota model
- Continuous forecasting of key model drivers; analysing sensitivities and developing scenarios for quota compliance
- Conducting tailored analyses, particularly for biomethane and RFNBOs, in the context of the model
- Engaging regularly with commercial teams and other stakeholders on market developments and model outputs
- Expanding the model framework to additional European countries as regulatory frameworks evolve
Your profile
Required
- Enrolled student (Bachelor or Master phase) in Economics, Engineering, Energy and Resource Economics, Environmental Science, Mathematics or a related fields.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to work independently.
- Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially excel
- Skills in Python data processing or modelling. Interest in energy markets, renewable fuels, and decarbonization technologies.
Preferred
- First experience or strong interest in topics such as:
- Energy system modelling,
- Biofuels,
- EU energy regulation (RED II/III, quotas, sustainability criteria).
- Experience with techno‑economic analyses (cost structures, yield calculations etc.).
- Ability to translate complex technical content into clear insights.
- It is expected that at least one day a week could be worked in our offices in Düsseldorf
- German proficiency is a plus
