Senior Origination Manager SWE

We are now looking for a Senior Origination Manager (Greenfield) to our Swedish renewables team. While our head office is in Malmö, we offer flexibility in where this role is based. Ideally, you live within reasonable distance of one of our offices in Malmö, Gothenburg, or Stockholm.

Uniper Renewables is responsible for the development of the solar-PV and wind-onshore business of Uniper, predominantly in Europe. The renewables business is one of the most important pillars of our strategic ambition. Our aim is to deliver more than 1 GW growth p.a. by 2025. The geographical set-up and our existing capabilities allow us to enhance the solar and wind of Uniper in all selected geographies. Sweden is one of our core growth areas and we have a unique opportunity for a passionate, innovative and experienced Senior Project Development Manager Solar and Wind to join our growing Swedish team and to help shape and accelerate our journey to delivering our goals.

What you will work with?
As an expert in origination and project development, your role will be pivotal in securing and developing large-scale photovoltaic and wind power plants, focusing primarily on Sweden.

Your Main responsibilities will encompass:

  • Originating Greenfield solar and/or wind projects in Sweden, supporting the entire project development cycle from land identification and securing to obtaining all necessary licenses and permits for construction and operation.
  • Building and leading a dedicated PV origination team in Sweden, managing all stages from greenfield to ready-to-build (RTB), and supporting through to commercial operation.
  • Independently coordinating processes from initial contact with landowners, through site assessment, to contractual arrangements.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with both private and institutional landowners in Sweden.
  • Identifying with GIS target areas within Sweden based on strategic goals and thorough analysis.
  • Conducting comprehensive feasibility studies, including risk assessment and financial calculations (DCF).
  • Working with internal support to clarify approval paths for projects.
  • Representing Uniper RES in interactions with authorities and related entities in Sweden.
  • Keeping abreast of market developments in the Swedish renewable energy sector and informing management accordingly.
  • Creating a high-performing, motivated team environment that is both rewarding and enjoyable.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with Co-Development partners within the Swedish market.
  • Managing external service providers/consultants specific to the Swedish market.
  • Sustaining business relationships with landowners, permitting authorities, grid operators, regulators, off-takers, and other key stakeholders in Sweden.
  • Collaborating closely with existing Uniper business teams in Sweden (asset teams, trading/Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), finance, etc.) and enabling functions.
  • Building strong relationships within the development team, which includes developers, engineers, project-, contract-, and offtake managers, as well as a network of external development partners in Sweden.
  • Contributing to the establishment of an entrepreneurial, rewarding, and enjoyable work environment.
  • Undertaking any other necessary activities in the area, as required and by arrangement.
  • Reporting to the Head of Solar and Wind Development Sweden.

Your profile

You have a relevant university degree in electrical engineering, engineering or comparable studies in engineering, land surveying, business administration, economics, law or comparable studies. You also have several years (5-10 years) of work experience, and a proven track record of utility Solar and/or Wind project origination in Sweden.

You are also expected to have/ be;

  • In depth knowledge/ proficiency knowledge of GIS.
  • Profound understanding of relevant market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills and high level assertiveness and communication skills in an international environment and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Appreciation for cultural differences.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Fluent in English and Swedish, other languages will be a plus.
