Your responsibilities- Lead and continuously enhance project and portfolio risk management frameworks, standards, processes, and governance, ensuring a consistent and effective approach across the full project lifecycle.
- Conduct cross-project and portfolio-level risk analyses to identify systemic risks, interdependencies, emerging exposures, and critical risk drivers, translating insights into actionable recommendations for project and senior leadership.
- Develop and manage risk management tools and processes, ensuring effective integration of risk registers, project schedules, milestones, cost estimates, and portfolio reporting to enable transparent, data-driven decision-making.
- Lead quantitative schedule and cost risk analyses (QSRA/QCRA), including Monte Carlo simulations, to assess risk exposure, establish appropriate risk budgets and contingency requirements, and support robust investment and cost estimation.
- Interpret and communicate complex quantitative risk outputs, including P20/P50/P80 confidence levels, probability distributions, sensitivity analyses, tornado charts, and key schedule and cost drivers, translating them into clear management actions and mitigation priorities.
- Provide technical leadership and risk advisory support to project risk professionals and multidisciplinary project teams, facilitating risk workshops and constructively challenging risk assessments, assumptions, and mitigation strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to project and senior leadership, supporting risk assessments at key project stage gates and decision points and ensuring that risk considerations are appropriately reflected in planning and strategic decision-making.
- Strengthen risk governance and cross-functional alignment by coordinating interfaces between project, asset, operational, enterprise, and financial risk disciplines, ensuring appropriate escalation and integrated risk reporting.
Your profile- University degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a comparable discipline; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
- Several years of relevant experience in senior project risk management, ideally within the energy, power, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or other complex capital project environments.
- Proven expertise in project and portfolio risk management, including experience providing technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to other risk professionals.
- Strong knowledge of established risk management methodologies and standards, such as PMI, PRINCE2, and ISO 31000, combined with hands-on expertise in QSRA, QCRA, and Monte Carlo simulations.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, critical path methodology, project controls, and integrated project planning, with practical experience using quantitative risk analysis and integrated project risk management tools; experience with Planisware or comparable solutions is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex risk data and translate it into clear, commercially relevant recommendations, mitigation strategies, and management actions.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to constructively challenge project teams, engage senior stakeholders, and operate effectively in complex and high-pressure project environments.
- Fluent written and spoken German and English, combined with a willingness and ability to travel regularly across Europe and respond flexibly to project-specific requirements.
